NEW DESIGN SERIES As the stratosphere surrounds the earth, the domed sapphire covers the Astron dial.

The shape of the sapphire crystal reflects the curve of the stratosphere that protects the earth. Sapphire is a material whose hardness is second only to diamond and is therefore very difficult to fashion. It takes over 10 hours of polishing to create the smooth, curved surface of each crystal for the new Astron design. The light from the luminous coating on each hour mark and hand shines brightly, like the earth as seen through the stratosphere.  The effect is dazzling.

The time displayed by Astron comes from the UTC signal sent out from the atomic clocks  in each GPS satellite. The design of the dial expresses this visually, by showing the time as if one were viewing the earth from above the North Pole, with the city codes and their offset times aligned with the map. The city codes are easy to read in a bold font along the edge of the dial ring through the curved sapphire glass.
The spherical surface that echoes the curvature of the Earth
The spherical surface extends from the glass to the case and to the silicone strap, creating the overall illusion that the watch is like our Earth moving through space. What better design could there be for a watch that talks to the stars?

  • The world’s first GPS solar watch.

    As you travel, with only the push of a button operation, Astron pinpoints its location and identifies your exact time by receiving GPS signals from 4 or more GPS satellites.
    Astron never stops unless it receives all the power it needs from light absorbed through the dial and it has a power reserve indicator to show the amount of energy stored.

  • Adjust to your time zone*

    Unlike radio control watches, which work only in a small part of the world's land mass, GPS solar watch recognizes the currently recognized time zones on earth.
    Whether you are on a mountain top, in the middle of the ocean, or even in the center of a desert, the watch displays the exact local time.

    *Time zone data as of January 2012. Changes to time zones occurring after this date are not programed and manual adjustment may be required.

  • Automatic time adjustment

    Whenever the dial is exposed to bright light, the watch automatically receives GPS signals.
    When the watch is concealed under a sleeve and the dial cannot receive enough light, the watch stores the time of the previous successful manual time adjustment or time zone adjustment, and automatically starts time adjustment at the same time.

  • In-flight mode

    In order to avoid any interference with the operation of electronic devices in an airplane, in-flight mode is available when boarding a plane. In the in-flight mode, the GPS signal reception function will not work.

  • Daylight Saving Time (DST)

    In areas where Daylight Saving Time (DST) applies, the time can be adjusted manually.
